Have you let life kill your dream?

Was there a time in your life when you thought you had it all figured out?

I dreamed a dream in time gone by

When hope was high

And life worth living

I dreamed that love would never die

I dreamed that God would be forgiving...

Was there a time in your life that your dream was ruined?

I had a dream my life would be

So different from this hell I’m living

So different now from what it seemed

Now life has killed

The dream I dreamed

I can’t help but to be moved when I listen to that song. I started my life out with high hopes thinking I could conquer the world. I had dreams of moving up the corporate ladder in the fashion industry where I worked. I loved all things fashion and I was successful in the business world but my personal life was in shambles. You see, I have been in that spot where I thought I was living in hell and that life had nothing left to offer. I let my circumstances and a man dictate how I reacted to my life rather than knowing that I could in fact conquer the world. I learned after time, that within me I possessed the keys to move on and live life fully. What I learned was that I needed to regain the self confidence that I had lost. That self confidence started when I realized I was valuable. All I had to do was look inward to see my value.

How many times have you dreamed a dream and slowly saw the hope you once had be torn apart?┬áThe beauty of living is being able to witness life at its best and worst. I’ve lived through the best and worst of times and with each one of those times there was knowledge that was gained. I would never trade the worst to only live in the best. What would I have learned by staying in an abusive relationship? What would I have learned if I never walked though the hell of losing several people that were close to me? I learned to love and to be loved after having my heart broken. I learned that although there will always be a void in my heart that was filled by my loved ones, I have more love to give by having been loved by them. I learned that every church and person has flaws, even me, and the way to look past all of the flaws is to see the good and magnify that in hopes that the bad will be diminished.

In order to have a life that doesn’t feel like hell you must look beyond today and tomorrow. You need to envision a future that you can possess by learning from today’s difficult situations. One lesson that Daniel has taught me is to dream big, write it down, enjoy the journey, and work towards the goal. You will never get anywhere without a goal, you will always stay in your location spinning your wheels wishing for something better. Today is the day to dream big and know that you hold the keys to your life and your success.
